To All the fans of cricket, our very own MS Dhoni has returned to professional cricket with a new look. It is Dhoni's 100th win in yellow jersey. Mumbai Indians once again lost the IPL opener. They have not won it since 2013.

Toss : Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first.

First Innings : There was no swing to offer for the fast bowlers. All the bowlers was leaking runs except Piyush Chawla. MI scored 45 runs in just 4 overs. In the next 2 overs MI lost both there openers. Mumbai scored 51 for the loss of 2 wickets.

Suryakumar Yadav(17) and Surabh Tiwari(42) started rebuilding the innings and the later was the aggressor. But Chennai keep picking wickets at regular intervals and never let MI to score freely for longer duration. Whenver a batsman starts hitting boundary, a bowling change brings wicket. All the batsman of MI got starts but no one carried on.

Mumbar Indians 162/9 in 20 overs (Saurabh Tiwary 42, de Kock 33; Lungi Ngidi 3-38, Deepak Chahar 2-32)

Second Innings : Mumbai were 15-20 runs short from the score they were aiming at one stage. They needed early inroads to be back in the game and their bowlers did exactly the same. Trent Bould and James Pattinson picked up wickets in their first over. Chennai were 6/2 at one stage, both the openers Watson and Murali Vijay were back in the hut. There were no freebies on offer.

Bumrah's first over after more than six months in professional cricket started with 4 dot balls and ended with a 4 and no ball free hit six. This over changed the momentum. Both Rayudu (71) and Faf du Plesis (58*) start hitting occasional boundary without any undue risk. They stiched a 115 runs 3rd wicket partnership.

Mumbai did get rid off Rayudu and Jadeja in quick succession but the ever so smart Dhoni promoted Sam Currran in 18th over who scored 18 (2 sixes, 1 four) off just 6 balls and brought the required rate down below 6.

Dhoni and Du Plesis did the formalities in the 20th over and completed 5 wicket win. Sam Curran was Man of the Match for his contribution with both bat and ball.

Chennai Super Kings 166 / 5 in 19.2 overs (Ambati Rayudu 71, Faf du Plessis 58*; James Pattinson 1-27)
