ISL : FC Goa found saviour in Igor Angulo
Bengaluru FC take on FC Goa in Fatorda Stadium Goa, in their opening game of the season. Both the teams are heavyweights in the league. FC Goa was on top of the table in last year's league. Bengaluru FC won the league in 2018. Both the teams started cautiously. In the first 20 minutes, none of the team were able to penetrate the defence of opposition.
First Half : Bengaluru FC draw first blood
Bengaluru FC's throw in specialist Harmanjot Khabra, threw a long ball in the penalty area where the defence of FC Goa was unable to clear the ball away from the danger area and Bengaluru FC's Cleiton Silva scored the opening goal of the game. FC Goa enjoyed the majority of ball possession in the first half but were unable to hit the target more often. Score remained 1-0 in favour of Bengaluru FC at half time.
Second Half : Bengaluru double the lead, Angulo hit 2 goals in 3 minutes
FC Goa realised that their current combination of players are not being to break the defence line of Benagaluru FC. They bring Brandon Fernandes in the second half as substitute. FC Goa was looking to equalize on their home turf but it was Bengaluru again that took advantage of sthattered defence of FC Goa. Deshorn Brown headed the ball towards Erik Paartalu who headed it towards Juanan and he made no mistake in finding the back of the net. It was also 100th goal of Bengaluru FC in the history of ISL.
FC Goa responded beautifully after the second goal. Brandon's through ball find the FC Goa striker Igor Angulo, who beat Gurpreet Singh Sandhu to make it 2-1. Three minutes later, FC Goa started the attack and the cross from winger beat Sandhu on the near post and a simple chest tap in from Igor Angulo brought FC Goa back on level terms. 2-2 it was.
Bengaluru FC couldn't believe that they let the 2 goal lead slip away in just 3 minutes. That's what happens when Igor Angulo gets half chances. Good strikers knows how to convert half chances into goals.
