M20 : Suryakumar Yadav and bowlers make it hattrick of wins
Mumbai Indians haven't won the title in even year. Mumbai hasn't won a single match in UAE in 2014. Some critics and fans have write them off way before the tournament started. At this stage when all the teams have played at least 4 matches, some have played 5 and Mumbai have played 6 matches, Mumbai is sitting at the top of the table. They have won 4 out of 6 matches they have played. After a cautious start and few changes at the start of the tournament, they have the settled playing XI. Everyone knows what their role is in the team. They have won the title 4 times already and are looking good to make it 5 this year.
Mumbai had won 2 matches in a row and Rajasthan had lost 2 matches in a row. One team wanted to make it a hattrick of wins while other wanted to stop its hattrick of lose. Mumbai have won the toss and elected to bat first.
Quinton de Kock hit a fine knock in previous match and Rohit Sharma is never out of form in IPL. Both the openers took full toll of Rajasthan bowlers. They scored 49 runs for the first wicket in just 4.5 overs. Quinton de Kock 23(15) got out while trying to pull the short ball from debutant Kartik Tragi. The ball looped in the air and Jos Buttler did the rest. Rohit 35(23) kept on scoring runs for fun. Rajasthan made a small comeback in the match by picking of 2 wickets in 2 balls when the leg spinner Shreyas Gopal picked up wickets of well set Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Krunal Pandya was promoted over Hardik and Pollard to check the flow of wickets. He succeeded in that prospect of the game but seemed struggling to rotate strike. Steve Smith brought back Jofra Archer and he removed Krunal Pandya in 14th over.
Suyakumar Yadav was the only batsman in top 4 who hasn't scored fifty so far in this tournament. But today was his day. SKY scored blistering 79 off 47 balls that includes 11 fours and 2 sixes. Though Suryakumar played some brilliant innovative shots but steven smith faltered in the field changes. He should have known the boundary areas of SKY. SKY mostly hit boundaries behind square of the wicket but Rajasthan kept their fine leg inside the circle. Suryakamar Yadav took full advantage of this field and scored boundaries at will. MI finished at 193 for 4. Hardik Pandya 30(19) gave some finishing touches to the innings.
Rajasthan brought in young Yashasvi Jaiswal to open the innings with Jos Buttler. But the youngster didn't do justice to his selection and got out without scoring. Rajasthan need to be patient with the youngster because he is too young and he will learn from his mistakes. Rajasthan Royals lost 3 wickets for 12 runs in the 3rd over. Their top two run getter Steve Smith and Sanju Samson hasn't scored runs since coming out of Sharjah.
Rajasthan Royals only played the catch up game from thereon. Jos Buttler did score 70 off 44 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes but he also knows that he doesn't have partners at the other end who could do some damage to the opposition. Eventually he got out to a brilliant breathtaking catch from Kieron Pollard that only he can do. Rajasthan Royals bundled out for 136 in 18.1 overs. Mumbai Indians won comprehensively by 57 runs. All the bowlers chipped in with wickets and Jasprit Bumrah finished with his best figures 4 for 20 in 4 overs.
