M29 : MS Dhoni choked SRH in middle overs with spin web
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the 29th match of the 13th season of IPL. The Chennai team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 20 runs. Chasing a target of 168 runs, David Warner's team managed only 147/8 runs in the scheduled 20 overs. In the current IPL, the Chennai team lost by 7 runs in the last match to the Sunrisers. Now he avenged his defeat.
With this win, Chennai Super Kings have kept their hopes alive in the tournament. He got the third victory. This was his 8th match. On the other hand, it was the 5th defeat in Hyderabad in as many matches. Chennai is now in sixth place in the points table, while Hyderabad continues in fifth place.
Williamson's half-century wasted
Williamson (57 runs, 39 balls) completed his 13th half-century in the Indian Premier League with a four off Dwayne Bravo in the 17th over. After this he wanted to be aggressive as the team needed 46 runs from 18 balls. He picked up a big shot after a four off Karn Sharma and Shardul Thakur caught his catch and ended his innings.
Chennai returned in the last two overs
.. But Rashid Khan (14 runs) sent the next ball for a six on long on and hit a four on the reverse sweep. Shahbaz Nadeem also hit a four off the last ball. Now 27 runs were required from 12 balls. But Rashid was hit wicket on the last ball of the 19th over. 22 runs were required in the last over, but Dwayne Bravo gave the same run in this over and caught Nadeem (5) on his own ball.
Chennai Super Kings had scored 167/6
Chennai Super Kings scored 167/6 for the third wicket partnership between Shane Watson (42 runs) and Ambati Rayudu (41 runs) for the third wicket. Watson hit a four off 38 balls and hit three sixes during this partnership, while Rayudu hit three fours and two sixes in 34 balls.
Ravindra Jadeja finally scored 25 not out off 10 balls with three fours and a six. Sandeep Sharma gave Sunrisers Hyderabad the first two big wickets of Faf du Plessis and Sam Curren (31) by conceding 19 runs in four overs. T Natarajan and Khalil Ahmed also got two wickets each. Rashid Khan gave 30 runs in four overs, but he did not get any wickets.
Chennai Super Kings added 51 runs losing four wickets in the final five overs. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (21 runs, 13 balls with two fours and a six) won the toss and decided to bat. Opener du Plessis could not even open the account that Sandeep Sharma's inswinger touched the bat and wicketkeeper Johnny Bairstow made no mistake in catching his catch.
Rayudu and Watson returned in consecutive overs
CSK completed 100 runs in the 14th over of Rayudu with a four off T Natarajan's ball. Rayudu and Watson rode Rashid on each skyscraper six, adding 14 runs in the 15th over. CSK then lost the wickets of both these batsmen in consecutive overs, making their score 120 runs for four wickets.
Jadeja leads CSK to 167
Dhoni reached the pavilion on the last ball of the 19th over, he scored 21 runs from 13 balls, on the first ball, he sent Natarajan's ball for a six on long on. Dwayne Bravo started walking as soon as he arrived. But Jadeja added a six, a four in the final over to increase the score.
